Coconut oil, with loads of health benefits in it, has been an important ingredient in our kitchen since my childhood. We use coconut oil to stir fry, deep fry and also in curries. We also apply coconut oil on our hair before taking bath.
I remember my grandmother preparing coconut oil in home, from freshly-squeezed coconut milk. The aroma of that oil is still in my memory.The residue of the homemade coconut oil is also edible.
Even nowadays my mother prepares coconut oil from dried coconut. She cuts the coconut into small pieces and sundries it until completely dried.Then she gives those coconut pieces to the nearby oil-mill and gets fresh coconut oil. This oil is healthy and contains no preservatives.She uses this oil for cooking. She puts a piece of palm sugar into this oil to preserve its freshness for a long time.
Coconut oil offers health benefits both internally and externally. It has good cholesterol,boosts energy and also contains many other benefits. It is a good hair tonic. It helps the hair to grow thick and strong and it prevents hair fall. It is also a good makeup remover.
All these benefits make coconut oil one of my pantry staples.
