Sitting by the pool, stretched out on a beach chair, a glass of iced tea in hand-now that’s a summer daydream. Nothing says summer better than a frosty glass of home-brewed iced tea. And this recipe is exactly what you need to beat the heat.

It is believed that iced tea was made for first time by an American tea plantation owner. One day, during a fair, a tea plantation owner was giving away free samples of hot tea. Because of the hot weather, people didn’t show interest in his tea. So he added ice to his hot tea and served it. His iced tea was a huge hit.

The iced tea which was a product of desperation became a popular beverage. This is an easy to make version of iced tea and it is flavored by lemon and orange. Use freshly squeezed juice and be careful not to steep the tea bags for a very long time because that may bring a trace of bitterness to your tea.

You may need to adjust the quantity of sugar according to the sweetness you like. I have added 3/4 cup. You can add a bit more or less according to your taste.

Refrigerate the tea after it is cool down completely. Use it within two or three days.
