Easy apple spice cake, full of flavor and aroma…

Apple cakes are the best ways to enjoy fresh apples. It is easy to bake apple cakes and you need not to be an expert to bake one. There are different varieties of apple cakes present, and this is an easy one.

A flavorful and moist cake, with shredded apples and aromatic spices. It is full of flavor and aroma. This cake does not require a lot of ingredients. It can be easily baked with very few ingredients.

When you have plenty of fresh apples available and you do not want them to go waste, you can bake this moist and tasty cake.

I baked this simple and easy cake on a weekend together with my family. It is my way of spending some quality time together with them.

I have used corn oil to bake this cake. If you do not have corn oil, you can also use sunflower oil or grapeseed oil.

I have topped it with an easy and simple home style caramel sauce. When you pour the sauce over the cake make sure the cake is completely cooled and the sauce must be hot, but not boiling.

You can use any sweet variety apple for this cake. Green apples are not good for this cake.

I usually serve this cake for afternoon tea and sometimes I serve this cake for breakfast also.

APPLE SPICE CAKE RECIPE

PREPARATION TIME : 25 TO 30 MINUTES

BAKING TIME : 1 HOUR AND 15 MINUTES

TO MAKE THE SAUCE : 8 MINUTES

CAN BE SERVED TO 8 TO 10 PEOPLE

INGREDIENTS

All the ingredients are measured in a 250 ml cup.
  • 3 cups of all purpose flour
  • 3 cups of peeled and shredded apples
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 cups of brown sugar
  • 1 and 1/4 cups of vegetable oil like grape seed oil or corn oil or sunflower oil
  • 1 and a 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda

SPICE POWDERS

  • 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon of clove powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg powder

FOR THE SAUCE

  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup of butter
  • 1/4 cup of milk

METHOD

STEP 1 : Sieve the all purpose flour and baking soda into a bowl and keep it aside.

STEP 2 : In a big bowl, add the oil and sugar and using a hand blender, blend them together at a medium speed until the oil and sugar are well combined.

STEP 3 : Add the eggs one by one and beat them after each addition. Beat them until the sugar, oil and the eggs are mixed well. Use a medium speed.

STEP 4 : Into this mixture, add the flour and baking powder mixture, in two or three batches, and beat in medium speed until well combined.

STEP 4 : Add the grated apple into this flour mixture and mix gently until the shredded apples are combined together with the batter.

STEP 5 : Add the spice powders into this batter and mix.

STEP 6 : Transfer it into a prepared baking tin.

STEP 7 : Preheat the oven to 175°C and bake it for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until a skewer inserted in comes out clean.

STEP 8 : Take the cake out from the oven and let it cool completely, and then using a cake leveler level the cake.

TO PREPARE THE SAUCE

STEP 1 : In a sauce pan add the sugar, butter and milk and heat it in medium temperature. Stir it gently.

STEP 2 : When it starts boiling, simmer it for five to 7 minutes, so that the sauce becomes a little thick.

STEP 3 : After 5 to 7 minutes remove it of from the heat and let it rest for two minutes, just to come down from its very hot temperature. Then pour the hot sauce on the cooled cake.

NOTE

When you pour the sauce over the cake make sure the cake is completely cooled and the sauce must be hot, but not boiling hot.

You can use any sweet variety apple for this cake. Green apples are not good for this cake.
